2021-2022 ROCKETTES AUDITIONS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

ARE THERE ANY AGE REQUIREMENTS?

 

You must be at least 18 by the date of the final audition. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Please remember to bring Photo ID to the audition. As far as maximum age, there is NO limit. Ages of recent dancers/cheerleaders in the States have ranged from 18 to 38.

 

ARE THERE ANY HEIGHT & WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS?

 

Our uniform demands a toned figure so you should look well proportioned in dancewear. We DO NOT have specific height and weight requirements although the Rockettes aim to project an image of health and fitness.

 

IS BEING A SCOTTISH ROCKETTES DANCER A FULL-TIME JOB?

 

No, you must hold at least a part-time job or attend college/University.

 

DO YOU CONSIDER BEING A MOTHER A FULL TIME JOB?

 

Yes!

 

WHAT TYPE OF TIME COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED IF CHOSEN FOR THE SCOTTISH ROCKETTES PRO-DANCE TEAM:

 

TOTAL COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED!!!!

 

A dancer's schedule can be very busy.

 

Activities can include:

 

  • Rehearsals
  • Personal Appearances (Charity & Paid)
  • Travel
  • Children's Camps
  • Performances
  • Interviews/photo shoots

 

HOW MANY POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

 

We will be auditioning for 15 dancers for the Rockettes Pro-Dance Team, however management reserves the right to change this number at any time.

 

This squad appears at all Rockettes events including all Glasgow Rocks home basketball games as well as promotional and charity work. The squad has 2 dance classes per week and all classes are mandatory. As stated above this squad requires total commitment and candidates who do not feel they can keep to rehearsal, game and promotion schedules should not contemplate auditioning for this squad.

 

WHAT WILL AUDITIONS LOOK LIKE IN 2021?

 

2021-2022 auditions will be different than any other year. While all plans are subject to change, the current plan is the following structure:

 

Registration of Interest opens 30th August – we recommend emailing a note of interest to info@scottishrockettes.com as the first step as this will guarantee that you are notified of all audition updates as soon as information is available.

 

  • Round 1 – Registration and Video Submission – Now Open
    • Once Round 1 of tryouts has opened, anyone on the interest form will be notified.
    • Applicants will be asked to fill out an application form, which can also be downloaded here ( Word version , PDF version ), in addition to:
      • Headshot photo
      • Full body photo in dance wear or two-piece athletic wear
      • Tryout video submission – Perform a 45 second solo improv/freestyle video to music of your choice. This should show technical elements such as kicks/leaps/pirouettes and splits. This doesn’t require to be a professionally edited video, and can be filmed anywhere that has enough room to allow you perform.
    • Closing date for submissions is 19 September 2021

 

  • Round 2 – Zoom Interviews
    • Applicants who advance from Round 1 of tryouts will take part in a virtual interview via Zoom with the dance squad coaching staff.

 

  • Round 3 – Final Audition
    • This round will be hosted in-person at a date to be confirmed. Protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of all participants throughout the final in-person tryout.

Yes, colours that compliment you! Think glamorous.

 

HOW SHOULD I WEAR MY HAIR?

 

Wear your hair in a style that compliments your features. Make sure your hair does not hide your face.

 

ARE AUDITIONS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

 

No. Auditions are closed, therefore no-one can watch you during the dance classes – not even family.

 

IF I AM NOT SELECTED WILL MY APPLICATION BE KEPT ON FILE?

 

No. You must re-apply with a new Application each year.

 

WHEN DO REHEARSALS BEGIN?

 

If successful You will be given a full schedule of rehearsals by email
